Life As I Know It

So... Hello.  I know, I said I would update my blog.  Well, I'm a busy mama!  It happens.  But I'll try to do a quick update to get everyone up to speed.

The kids came up to visit for the summer the end of June, they drove up with us after my baby shower in Evanston.  A few days later their dad Brady was in an accident (June 30th I believe).  He suffered massive head trauma and was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks.  He fought hard, his health was very up and down.  He would seem to be getting better then suddenly get worse.  On July 12th he passed away.  Hardest thing of my entire life was having to tell my kids they'd never see their dad again and see them hurt like that...

Now I realize why I have put off updating this.

The kids moved to North Dakota and now live with Bo & I.  And Eli came into our lives on August 7th at 3:11pm.  He couldn't have came at a better time.  He is our rainbow after the storm.  I believe he helped my kids immensely with the healing process.  Of course, they are not done healing.  But he brought joy and happiness when we all needed it the most.

So, like I said, Eli Ryan Keyes was born August 7th at 3:11pm.  He was a BIG baby, weighing 9lbs 6oz and 20.5 inches long.  He was born at Trinity hospital here in Minot, ND.  I was induced so that Bo could for sure be there for the birth, since his job requires him to live on location for 7 days at a time we had to make sure it didn't happen during those days!

It took a little bit to get back into the routine of having a baby in the house.  Ashlyn was almost 9 when Eli was born so I was way out of practice!  But I got the hang of it lol.  It's like riding a bicycle, you never really forget, right?  But being Bo's first child, he had no experience with a newborn so he was very nervous at first!  He quickly caught on and got over the idea that he was going to break the baby lol.  The kids have been very helpful!  They love helping with dressing him and holding him, even diaper changing.  Eli definitely has kept us all busy!

Fast forward to now... Eli is almost 6 months old!  Ashlyn is 9!  Jaylon just turned 12!  Wow, I feel old lol.  The kids have made a lot of friends here and are doing very well.  Jaylon played football and both are doing indoor soccer right now.  Jaylon was recently asked to be a part of a travel team for soccer!  He's very excited!!  They are happy, normal kids.  They are tough cookies!  I am so proud of them.  Of course they miss their dad and talk about him often, but they have such positive outlooks on life and everything.

So... that's my life for the past 6 months.  Updated.  The short version. This time I really will try and keep this updated.  And share recipes I like.  And crafts we do.  Fun stuff.  Ok bye.
